Laws related to IT

Computer Misuse Act
Hacking:
People just love to hack into to computers and know information that they shouldn't know.
There for its was against the law and people knew that it was against the law but some people still did it and no one could do anything about it due to the fact that in (1990) there was no legislation in place to tackle the curse made by hacking.

The three new offences that was introduced by the Computer Misuse Act:
Unauthorised access to computer material.
Unauthorised access with intent to commit or facilitate a crime.
Unauthorised modification of computer material.

Data Protection Act
The Data protection Act controls how your personal information is used by organisations, businesses or the government. Also Data Protection Act has rules and regulations that people must follow.
For example:

A business or an organisation does not have the rights to give your details out without your permission, therefore if they do this they could get fined and also it will be a threat towards the business.
Personal data: in order for data to be personal data it needs to be able to identify a living individual.
For example a persons  first name by it self would not be enough to identify them, but with their full name address would. A main example of personal data is a persons name, address and date of birth.

Keeping safe using IT.

How to stay safe on the Internet.
Social networking websites and apps, such as Facebook, Myspace, Instagram, Viber, Tumblr, Snap Chat, Ask.fm and Twitter have become incredibly popular in recent years. To avoid people knowing your personal information on social network is not to put it on there but if you do that then never ever add people or accept people as friends that you do not know.
An example of this: A young person tries to let their friends know about their birthday party by posting the information about when and where on their social networking site. This means hundreds of people end up knowing about the party and turn up uninvited. The party could turn into chaos with people getting angry and even refusing to leave. The police would have to get involved to turn people away
